Snakestripe's teeth tore into her paw, drawing blood. Then he lunged forward, pinning her down. The tabby's icy eyes burned into hers.

She growled, her lip curled as her paw spurted blood. Thorn held still, thinking of strategy to escape Snakesripe's grip. She refused to let emotion cloud her eyes, but just put up a poker face instead.

Snakestripe held her there with his muscular grip. He spat fury.

Thorn waited for an attack, and she held her gaze steadily.
Blitz narrowed his eyes. "Fang!" he whispered sharply. "Get reinforcements!"

Lionstar snarled, bowling Fang over.

Blitz narrowed his eyes, his gaze snapping to Lionstar. He snarled, the fur on his spine standing to an end. Blitz launched himself at the other leader, his eyes burning.
At that moment, Thorn sprung up with all her might, attempting to grasp hold of Snakestripe's shoulderblade.
