Shepherd, fully grown now into a handsome Savannah like his late father, Sandy, was out in the pine forest. He stalked a squirrel, almost silently.

Sagepaw bore her teeth as well, and hissed. The fur on her spine stuck up threateningly.

Leopardpaw lunged forward, passing Sagepaw by but tearing into her side as she passed. Then the leopard-like she-cat turned and prepared to charge again.
