Crowflight and Lightningstorm were silent for a moment. They then nodded. "I'd be honored to monitor them." Crowflight meowed.

Iceclaw listened with interest, sitting with her tail curled around her paws.

"Then begin." Hawkstar meowed to Sagepaw and Leopardpaw.
Leopardpaw dipped her head and padded out of the camp.

Sagepaw padded after her sister, then going in another direction.
Crowflight and Lightningstorm waited until both were out of camp to follow them.

Leopardpaw sniffed the air, her golden pelt glowing in the sun. She pricked her ears.
The she-cat crouched down, her eyes on a mouse that was chewing on a seed. Leopardpaw grinned. It was fat, and would feed her clan. She started to move forward, delicately placing her paws down so that she didn't make any noise. When she was close enough to her prey, Leopardpaw sprang forward and landed squarely on the mouse. She nipped the back of its neck to kill it then buried it for later.
The she-cat continued on, her nose sniffing every bush for the sign of more prey.

Thistlefur left the camp, padding through the shadows, watching Leopardpaw silently.

Leopardpaw spotted a brown squirrel searching the ground for nuts. The she-cat crouched down again and repeated the same technique she had used before. The squirrel started to climb the tree, a nut in its mouth, and Leopardpaw sprang upward, catching the squirrel in her paws and snapping its neck.

Sagepaw continued in the other direction, frowning. She tried to keep stealthily padding, and her jaw hung open to catch the scents.
A whiff of frogscent whizzed by, and she halted. She crept toward the preyscent, and thought to herself, It's no fat, juicy vole, but I guess it will do! Sagepaw looked at the frog as it was puffing out its chest, and let out a throaty croak. She pounced at it, hooking her claws around it's throat. She bit the back of it's neck, killing it.
She kept it in her mouth and dug a hole in the earth, placing it in there and covering it up to preserve it.
Lightningstorm watched Sagepaw, eyes gleaming.
Crowflight watched Leopardpaw, admiration and approval in her eyes. She would make a good deputy with her hunting skill,

Thistlefur nodded from his place on the shadows. Leopardpaw was a skilled hunter. He padded off, picking up Sagepaw's scent and following the young she-cat.
